Second Time Around: Lessons Learned and Challenges Faced

Starting over nine years later, when I thought I was done having kids, has been quite a journey. Some days are easier than others, but I'm learning to navigate this new chapter with a mix of resilience and humor. Going from being a teen mom with 3 kids to an older mom (29 years old now) has been a huge eye-opener.
One of the most significant differences I've noticed is the level of support I receive. As a teen mom, people seemed more understanding and willing to help. They expected that teens might need extra support, so they were always ready to lend a hand.
Now, as an older mom, it's like people assume I have everything under control. They'll offer their help, but when it comes down to it, they're either too busy, forget, or simply don't follow through. It can be frustrating, but I'm learning to rely on my own resources and build a strong support network of other moms.
Another big change is my energy level. I don't know how my younger self managed to juggle everything. Now, I'm exhausted most of the time, and I often find myself wondering how I did it all as a teen. Thankfully, my now husband is a great partner, and he takes on a lot of the night feedings. We've also managed to get the twins on a decent sleep schedule, which has made a huge difference.
Overall, this experience has been a rollercoaster. There are days when I feel overwhelmed, but there are also moments of pure joy and fulfillment. I'm grateful for the opportunity to be a mom again, and I'm learning to appreciate the unique challenges and rewards that come with it.
